Herbie Hancock
Feature  Free Online Internet Radio Stations at GotRadio!
Free Online Internet Radio Stations at GotRadio! Hancock was a child prodigy, soloing in the First movement of a Mozart piano concerto with the Chicago Symphony at age 11. He was invited to join Donald Byrds group in 1961 and soon after Blue Note offered him a solo contract. “Takin Off,” his debut LP literally took off after Monga Santamaria covered one of the album’s songs, “Watermelon Man.”

In May 1963, Miles Davis asked Herbie to join his band, which he continued to contribute to while his solo career took off until he left the band in 1968.

For the past 4 decades, Herbie Hancock continues to amaze jazz enthusiasts with a varied and tasty body of music. In 2007 he released an intriguing CD of jazz treatments of Joni Mitchell songs called “Rover: The Joni Letters,” which won him a Grammy for the Best Contemporary Jazz album.
