Open the GotRadio player. If you have not
chosen a connection speed before, you will be presented with 2 options.
-
Broadband - DSL, Cable, and T1 connections.
-
Dial-up - A 56K modem.
Once you have selected a connection speed the player will open a song will begin
to play. Right click on the windows media bar within the player and select
"statistics". This will show the speed at which the clip is being played. Our
broadband clips stream at either 48 or 64kbps. If it indicates that there is
not at least 48kbps through-put, then change your connection speed to
"Dial-up". Our dial-up tracks stream at 20kbps.

Symptom: Your player consistently "buffers"
causing music to temporarily stop, or the music stops for no reason.
Please Note: The steps outlined below are an attempt to deal with a complex
problem. GotRadio's content (radio) is streamed from four national datacenters,
and you are connecting from one of a thousand-plus Internet service providers.
For example, your local AOL system may be slow today and thus it appears that
our service is not up to par. Thus, this step is by no means perfect and may
require some effort on your part.
-
Verify your connection speed and adjust your preferences accordingly (see Step
2).
-
If the problem persists, there may be a problem with your ISP. Please check
with your provider to see if there are any problems in your area.
-
You might also want to check the "Internet Weather Report" to see if there are
problems in your region http://www.mids.org/weather/
-
If all of the above does not provide an answer, we suggest that you help us
"road-map" your Internet connection to us. This "road-map" will help us to
determine why music is not reaching you in a seamless fashion. You can provide
this road-map by running a program called "Traceroute". If you know how to use
Traceroute, we ask that you run the program and proceed to Step 4. If you are
unfamiliar with Traceroute, we suggest that you download "NeoTracePro" from
Downloads.com. NeoTracePro will allow you to visually map your
connection and copy the results into an email or other text document.
